CTC is not your salary — it's the company's total cost, including money you'll never see (employer PF, gratuity). This calculator strips CTC down to what actually hits your bank account each month.
Example: ₹12 lakh CTC at 40% basic → roughly ₹94,268/month in-hand under the new regime (FY 2025-26). The ~₹21,000/month gap is EPF, professional tax and income tax — now you know exactly where it goes.
Frequently asked questions
Why is in-hand so much lower than CTC/12?
CTC includes employer PF (12% of basic), gratuity (~4.81% of basic) and sometimes insurance — none of which you receive monthly. Then employee PF, professional tax and income tax come off. A 15–25% haircut is normal.
Which regime gives higher in-hand?
Usually the new regime for FY 2025-26, thanks to zero tax up to ₹12 lakh taxable income. Toggle the regime above to see your exact difference.
Is professional tax the same everywhere?
No — it varies by state (Maharashtra: ₹2,500/year; Karnataka: ₹2,400; some states: nil). The calculator uses ₹2,500; adjust mentally for your state.
Does this include variable pay or bonuses?
No — enter your fixed CTC. Variable pay is taxed in the year received; add it to income in our Income Tax Calculator for the full picture.
Why is EPF capped at ₹1,800/month here?
EPF contributions apply to basic salary up to the ₹15,000/month statutory wage ceiling (12% = ₹1,800). Many companies contribute on full basic voluntarily — if yours does, your in-hand will be slightly lower and your PF higher.
