Hi, I'm Vikram Singh. I started CashCrafty because money talk in India needed a translator.
Last updated: October 2026
I started CashCrafty with a simple frustration: most money advice in India is either written for experts, or written to sell you something. I wanted a place where anyone — whether you're opening your first savings account or planning for retirement — could get straight, honest answers in plain English, with real Indian examples and real rupee amounts.
So here it is: CashCrafty — short for being crafty with your cash, in the good way. Every guide on this site is researched from official sources first (RBI, SEBI, the Income Tax Department, or the scheme's own documentation), then checked against how things actually work in practice — bank websites, fund fact sheets, real premium calculators. Only then do I write it up.
What I promise you
- Plain English, always. If I use a term like "expense ratio" or "claim settlement ratio," I explain it in the same sentence. No jargon walls.
- India-first examples. Real ₹ amounts, real schemes — PPF, EPF, NPS, ELSS, Section 80C. Not American 401(k) advice copy-pasted with a ₹ symbol slapped on.
- No selling. I don't earn commissions from any bank, fund house, or insurance company mentioned here. When I compare products, nobody has paid for a rank.
- Honest about limits. I'm an educator and a researcher, not a SEBI-registered investment advisor. I'll tell you how things work and what the trade-offs are — but your final decisions are yours, ideally with a qualified advisor for big ones.
How I research an article
Every guide on this site goes through the same process: I start with the official source (RBI, SEBI, Income Tax Department, or the scheme's own documentation), then I check how it actually works in practice — bank websites, fund fact sheets, real premium calculators. Only then do I write. If a number can change (like PPF interest rates, which the government revises quarterly), I say so in the article instead of pretending it's fixed forever.
When I get something wrong — and it happens — I fix it and note the correction. Money advice you can't trust is worse than no advice at all. The full standards are published in our Editorial Policy, and our independence commitments in Ethics & Transparency.
What CashCrafty is not
This is not a get-rich-quick blog. You won't find "double your money in 30 days" here. Wealth in India, for most of us, is built slowly — a ₹5,000 SIP that you don't panic-sell, an emergency fund that saves you from a credit card spiral, a term plan bought at 28 instead of 38. Boring? A little. Effective? Completely.
Say hello
I read every email. If an article helped you, or confused you, or got something wrong — tell me at support@cashcrafty.com, or use the contact page. Reader questions genuinely shape what I write next.
Thanks for stopping by. Now go read something that'll make your future self richer — I'd start with the SIP guide.
