Editorial Policy
Last updated: October 2026
CashCrafty publishes personal-finance education for readers in India. Because money advice can affect real decisions — how much tax you pay, where your savings go, whether your family is protected — we hold our content to a defined editorial standard. This page explains exactly how our guides are made.
1. Official sources first
Every guide starts from primary sources, not from other blogs. Depending on the topic, that means:
- Regulators and government: RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, the Income Tax Department (incometax.gov.in), the Department of Economic Affairs for small-savings rates.
- Industry bodies: AMFI for mutual-fund mechanics, EPFO for provident-fund rules, DICGC for deposit-insurance limits, India Post for post-office schemes.
- Scheme documents: the actual terms of PPF, NPS, SSY and similar schemes before we summarise them.
Where a guide states a regulated fact — a rate, a tax slab, a lock-in period — we link to the source so you can verify it yourself. If we can't find an official source for a claim, we don't publish the claim.
2. Fact-checking and review
Before publication, each article passes three checks:
- Numbers check: every rate, slab, limit and worked example is recomputed from the cited source. Worked ₹ illustrations are calculated, not estimated.
- Freshness check: rates and tax rules carry a "verified as of" date. Small-savings rates are revised quarterly and tax rules change with each Finance Act, so dating matters more than anywhere else on the site.
- Plain-language check: jargon gets defined or removed. If a paragraph can't be understood by a smart reader with no finance background, it gets rewritten.
3. Corrections policy
We will get things wrong sometimes — rates change, rules change, and occasionally we misread a notification. When that happens:
- We correct the article promptly and update its "verified as of" date.
- Material corrections (a wrong rate, slab or rule) are noted at the top of the article so returning readers see what changed.
- You can report an error any time at support@cashcrafty.com — we read every report and reply.
4. Author standards
CashCrafty's guides are written by Vikram Singh, who researches each topic from the sources above and writes from real-world practice. Two things we are explicit about:
- We are not SEBI-registered investment advisers. Nothing on this site is personalised financial advice, and we never present it as such.
- Opinions are labelled as opinions. When we recommend a framework (like a budgeting split or an asset-allocation rule of thumb), we say it's our take — and explain the reasoning so you can disagree with it intelligently.
5. Independence: no paid placements, ever
No brand, bank, fund house or insurer can pay for coverage, a favourable comparison, or a ranking on CashCrafty. Product comparisons are built on published features and charges, and nobody buys a position in them. Our full independence commitments are in our Ethics & Transparency statement.
6. How we use software tools
We may use software tools (including AI assistants) for drafting help, calculations and editing — but every published guide is reviewed, fact-checked and approved by a human editor against the standards above before it goes live. Tools don't publish on CashCrafty; people do.
7. What this site is not
CashCrafty is an educational publication, not a financial advisory service, a broker, or a distributor of financial products. We don't sell investments, insurance or loans, and reading our guides doesn't create an adviser–client relationship. For decisions involving large sums, talk to a qualified professional — a SEBI-registered investment adviser, a chartered accountant, or a licensed insurance adviser, as appropriate.
